Inukshuk was used by the Inuit, Inupiat, Yupik,
Kalaallit, or other people who are from Arctic region of
North America. Inukshuk is an inuit word which means “stone
man that points the way” or “you are in a right path”. Inukshuk
was used as many navigational aids. It showed coordination points. Inukshuk can
be found these days as a decoration in our house – garden,
bathroom, or in front of our house. Placing an inukshuk is not only for beauty
and art purposes, but also for showing the direction.
Shapes Of Inukshuk
An Inukshuk can be very large or small. It
depends on its purpose. Each shape of an Inukshuk represents its function. In
short, there are many shapes of Inukshuk, because there are many functions of
inukshuk. Inukshuk is built of any kind of stones. The arrangement of the
stones itself shows the function. For example, a long stone which represents a
leg or arm may indicate a navigational aids. It shows us a certain direction.
An Inukshuk that has no leg or arm indicates a place of foods. Although Inukshuk
is a work by people from Arctic region of America, Inukshuk
Canada is probably the most popular one.
Functions Of Inukshuk
There
were many functions of Inukshuk when it was used by the inuits. One, it was
used as navigational aids to show coordinate points
or to guide you to a certain way. Two, to mark a place which is memorial for
something (for example, a beloved person). Three, to indicate migration routes,
or to show the location of foods.

an option. Inukshuk these days is not only as a symbol of ancient culture. Its
art is still considered beautiful. It is important to keep a culture. Therefore,
we can reflect Inuit work by an Inukshuk.
